Brown), tried to kill Jeffery in July 1991 when he escaped from authorities for taking drugs, that they discovered the true extent of his actions 13 years later.

After committing the crime, he would take Polaroid photos of his victims in various horrible states to record what he did to them. , Milwaukee police were made aware of Jeffrey’s heinous crimes when he flagged down a handcuffed Tracy Edwards at 11:30 p.m. In the year July 22, 1991. He told the police that a “freak” had taken him and handcuffed him and that he needed their help to remove the handcuffs. When her keys fail to work, Edwards agrees to take the police to Jeffrey’s apartment.
Upon entering the premises, one of the policemen noticed a foul smell and boxes of hydrochloric acid lying on the floor. As they begin their search of Jeffrey’s residence, Tracy leads them to Jeffrey’s bedroom, which he says is where he kept the intended murder weapon.
When they opened Jeffrey’s bedside drawer, they found a knife and 84 Polaroid photos of the victims in various parts of the body. Rolf Müller, who discovered the photographs, was so shocked by the discovery that he told his colleague, “These are real.” This resulted in Jeffrey’s attempt to fight the arrest to no avail. The officers handcuffed him and took him to jail, saying, “I must die for what I have done.”
Not only did he have photographic evidence, but he also had some of his victims’ organs, including skulls and hearts.

It is difficult to say exactly what compelled him to document the entire killing process. According to Biography.com, one of the reasons he did this was to “see his victims at various stages of the murder process and remember each act afterward and relive the experience.”
He said he often feels lonely and isolated from the rest of society. That’s why these terrible memories “to keep with him.”
Combined with this evidence, Jeffrey eventually pleaded guilty to 16 counts of murder and was sentenced to 16 life sentences for his crimes. He died in prison in 1994.

Jeffrey Dahmer took a Polaroid of the victims and the real evidence the police found in the apartment was damning.
As revealed in Netflix’s Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Jeffrey Dahmer took dozens of graphic Polaroids of his victims’ bodies. In fact, it was these Polaroids that got him arrested. When Tracey Edwards managed to escape Dahmer, officers went to his home and arrested him after finding incriminating Polaroid photos in a drawer in the killer’s bedroom.
After Dahmer’s arrest, a thorough search was conducted and investigators found everything from skulls to severed genitalia in the apartment.

As mentioned above, it was the Polaroid photos that ultimately led to Dahmer’s arrest, and had they not been found, Dahmer would not have been arrested. Despite his criminal record and numerous public complaints about his behavior, police failed to investigate Dahmer or his apartment before Tracy Edwards reported him in 1991.
A total of 74 Polaroids were found. Most were taken at Dahmer’s apartment. Some were his victims while they were still alive, but most were the victim’s mutilated body parts, often placed during sex. After finding the photos, he called the police for backup and opened Dahmer’s fridge to find the severed black man’s head.
When the full investigation was completed, four severed heads were found in Dahmer’s kitchen and seven skulls in his bedroom. Meanwhile, his refrigerator contains two human hearts and part of an arm muscle. His freezer had a full human body, a bag of human body parts, and the remains of human flesh.
Elsewhere in Dahmer’s apartment, investigators found two complete skeletons, two severed hands, two severed genitals, a mutilated scalp and a three-part acid drum. Dahmer later admitted to cooking and eating the victims’ parts and collecting the skulls to make altars.

The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology reported that Dahmer took the Polaroid photos because they were so important and “to stay with him.”

According to the true crime drama, Dahmer is arrested after Tracy Edwards escapes from him and informs the police. Officers found several graphic Polaroids in an open drawer in Dahmer’s bedroom. After arresting the mass murderer, investigators searched Dahmer’s apartment and found severed heads, skulls and body parts.
In his confession, Dahmer said he planned to make an altar of the victims’ skulls. He also presented the officials with a picture of what the temple looked like and discussed the motives behind his heinous crimes.

Dahmer waived his right to an attorney when police began questioning him. He said: “I created this horror and it makes sense to do everything to destroy it.” Then he talked about many crimes and why he killed many people.

In his confession, Dahmer said he was “completely devastated” by being forced to kill. He added: “There was an endless and endless desire to be with someone at any cost. A good thing, a beautiful thing. It filled my mind all day.”
Dahmer then revealed that he kept the skulls of the victims to make a personal altar in his living room. In one painting, he decorated a table with skulls and incense and placed two skeletons on either side.
Discussing who the altar was dedicated to, Dahmer said: “Myself… it was a place where I felt at home.” He used it to reflect: “If this (his arrest) had been six months later, this is what they would have got.”
Of course, there is no rhyme or reason to Dahmer’s crime. He was found legally sane at the trial and sentenced to life imprisonment for his crime. In the year In 1994, Dahmer was murdered by his roommate, Christopher Scarver.
