Draymond Green apologized to the Golden State Warriors a day after punching teammate Jordan Poole during practice, Warriors general manager Bob Myers said this week.

TMZ released video Friday morning of an altercation between Green and Poole that occurred during Wednesday’s practice.

The video, which does not include sound, shows Poole and Green talking during a break in training. Green suddenly steps from the sideline to the baseline to confront Poole and poke him in the chest. Poole responds by shoving Green, who then lands a punch that connects with Poole’s face. Poole collapses against the wall and the two are immediately broken up by their teammates.
Myers said any discipline for Green would be handled internally. Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Green will be out of practice until Friday and will return Saturday.
“Draymond apologized to the team this morning, Jordan was in the room, I was in the room with the team, the coaches, the players and we heard that,” Kerr said Thursday, according to the Associated Press.
Warriors star Steph Curry praised Poole during team camp, saying “nothing justified the situation yesterday.”

Green, a Saginaw native and former Michigan State star, won four NBA championships with the Warriors and was a four-time All-Star. Poole is entering his fourth season with the Warriors after finishing his career at Michigan and scoring 17 points per game in last year’s playoffs.
The Warriors play their next preseason game on Sunday and open the regular season against the Lakers on Oct. 18.

Draymond Green has met the media for the first time since a video of him punching Warriors teammate Jordan Poole went viral as he apologized for his actions. Green said he will take a few days off and said he was in the wrong during the altercation.
Draymond Green Apologizes To Jordan Poole, Warriors After Leaked Video Surfaces
Green told reporters on Saturday that he apologized to Poole and his family following the incident at Warriors practice earlier this week. In the leaked video, Green punched Poole in a heated moment at practice.
“I’m a very flawed human being, and I think I personally know those flaws better than anyone,” Green said. “The work I’ve done to fix those flaws has been tremendous, in my opinion. But there’s still a long way to go. I think it’s a constant work in progress. I’m a constant work in process and will continue to be a work in progress.”
The team initially said it would not suspend Green after the altercation when general manager Bob Myers met with the media earlier this week. But after the leaked video went viral, it changed how many saw the situation for the polarizing Green, who had already clashed with his Warriors teammates.
The Warriors are the defending champions, but the early drama could affect the rest of the season. Green will be out for at least a few days, he said, while the Warriors continue their preseason and practice. Golden State will finish their season against the Lakers on October 18.

UNTIL October 7 at 1:30 p.m. ESPN reported that the Warriors are “aggressively investigating” who released the video of Draymond Green hitting Jordan Poole during a team practice on Wednesday. According to ESPN, they are taking “all legal steps” to find the source.
October 7, 11:50 a.m. Brawls at NBA practices are not uncommon, but the latest incident in which Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green punched teammate Jordan Poole is unique, as TMZ released video of the incident Friday morning.
It’s easy to engage in conspiracy theories about who might have made the video and why (Warriors ownership doesn’t want to renew Green’s contract, so they’re using this to prepare the public for a divorce? Does the hands-on videographer have a personal vendetta against Green for some reason? Did he release himself Green wanted the world to know that his right hook could kill a small animal?). Until now, there has been no indication of where the images came from. But the most likely scenario, based on historical precedent and common sense, is that TMZ paid a team employee a large sum of money for the video.
Leaked Video Shows Draymond Green, Jordan Poole Altercation
A 2016 New Yorker article explored how TMZ typically obtains these videos and also revealed how much the site paid for some of its most high-profile stories. According to the New Yorker, TMZ paid about $90,000 for a video of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice punching his then-fiancée Janay Palmer in an elevator and $80,000 for a video of a 14-year-old Justin Bieber using the N-word.
TMZ isn’t subtle about asking for tips: The tip line is printed at the top of the site with a big red banner asking if the reader has “Got a tip?”
When Fox News host Howard Kurtz pressed TMZ founder Harvey Levin about the ethics of paying sources, which the Society of Professional Journalists says “calls into question the credibility of the information,” Levin responded with, “There’s nothing wrong with that,” and , ” A video is still a video. So who cares if you pay money for it?”
Not many people have access to Warriors practice footage, so it’s fair to assume that whoever gave the video to TMZ was paid a sum of money worth firing.

“[TMZ’s] reputation is being built, people are calling and people know they’re going to get paid,” Nicholas Schmidle, author of a New Yorker story, told CBS in 2016 about TMZ’s operations.

A new layer was added to Draymond Green’s altercation with Jordan Poole at Warriors practice this week after video of the incident was leaked to TMZ on Friday.
In the video, Green is seen walking up to Poole and touching Poole’s chest during training. Poole responded to the close contact with a lunge from Green and the veteran forward wasted no time with a sharp counter-punch, sending Poole to the ground. Green begins to stand over Poole before the two sides separate as the video cuts.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers addressed the incident at Thursday’s practice and indicated he did not expect Green to miss any games due to a possible suspension from the team.
“These things happen. Nobody likes it, we don’t accept it, but it happens,” Myers told reporters. “Draymond apologized to the team. Jordan was there in the room. … As far as possible suspension, punishment, fines, we’ll deal with that internally.”
The inventory leak adds an extra layer of complexity to an already challenging situation for the Warriors just weeks before the start of the regular season.
Who leaked the footage? The Warriors apparently preferred to handle this situation internally, but the leak of the footage puts the incident more in the public eye for all to judge. Most NBA teams regularly have guests (agents, guest coaches, trainers, etc.) watch practice sessions, so it’s very possible that this footage came from someone outside the organization. In any case, the team needs to give some thought to the motive. Did anyone on the team or Poole’s camp want him there because they weren’t happy with how the team handled Green’s discipline for the incident? You’d be hard pressed to blame them, given how Green looked here.
